Accessibility Statement

We aim for our website to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of how they access the web โ€” whether by keyboard, screen reader, voice input, or other assistive technologies.

Our commitment

We design and build this website with the goal of meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA โ€” the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. We also aim to meet our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, which requires us to make reasonable adjustments so disabled people can access our services.

Honest disclosure. This website has not yet been formally audited for accessibility compliance. We have built it following accessibility best practices, but we are aware some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We are committed to working towards full compliance and to fixing any specific issues reported to us.

What we've done so far

We have taken the following steps to make the website more accessible:

  • Used clear, plain English wherever possible โ€” particularly important for clients whose first language is not English
  • Designed the site with sufficient colour contrast between text and background
  • Made the site keyboard-navigable, so visitors who cannot use a mouse can still browse and interact
  • Built the site to be responsive โ€” it works on mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes
  • Used semantic HTML (proper headings, lists, links, and form labels) which assistive technologies can interpret correctly
  • Added alternative text descriptions to important images
  • Ensured form fields have visible labels and clear error messages

Known limitations

We are honest that some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible. Areas we are aware need further work include:

  • Some interactive elements (such as the price calculator and search filters) have not yet been formally tested with all major screen readers
  • PDF documents linked from the website may not all be tagged for full screen reader compatibility
  • Decorative images and complex visual elements may not always have ideal alt-text descriptions

We will update this statement as we identify and resolve issues. If you encounter a specific accessibility barrier, please tell us โ€” see the contact section below.

Using assistive technologies

If you have difficulty reading or navigating our website, your browser and device may already have built-in features that can help:

Adjusting text size

Most browsers let you zoom or change text size using Ctrl + + (Windows) or Cmd + + (Mac). The site is designed to remain usable at up to 200% zoom.

Screen readers

The website is built to work with common screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (Mac/iOS), and TalkBack (Android). If you experience problems with any specific assistive technology, please let us know.

Other support

AbilityNet has free guides on adjusting your computer, tablet, or phone to meet your needs: mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk.

If any part of our website is difficult or impossible for you to use, please get in touch with us directly. We will do our best to help you in the way that works best for you. We can:

  • Speak with you by phone
  • Send information by post or email instead of asking you to use the website
